McDonald's Singapore Hello Kitty Bubbly World promotion release date

McDonald's is back with a new Hello Kitty toy collection to fuel the Singaporeans’ obsession with Hello Kitty. From April 28th, McDonald's will release Hello Kitty Bubbly World promotion to celebrate the iconic Japanese character Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary. Hello Kitty Bubbly World collection of plush toys will go on sale at McDonald’s restaurants in Singapore from 28 April. The set features Hello Kitty dressed as six other famous Sanrio characters - Kerokerokeroppi, a frog, My Melody, a rabbit, Osaru No Monkichi, a monkey, PomPomPurin, a golden retriever, Tuxedosam, a penguin dressed in a tuxedo and Bad Badtz-maru, a spiky-haired penguin. McDonald's will release The Kerokerokeroppi toy first, followed by the others.

But before they become available in the restaurants, fans can already purchase Hello Kitty Bubbly World promotion toys online. And the online sales was once again greeted by Kitty mania fueled by fans and opportunistic "resellers" who are hoping to buy the Hello Kitty set to resell to collectors for a handsome profit. The McDonald's Hello Kitty set is offered for $80 on online site. In the black market, they are sold for $120++ or much more.

This is the first time McDonald’s is selling online the the entire collection of plush Hello Kitty toys in an exclusive Collectors’ Set. The set includes all six individually-boxed plush toys, a 40th Anniversary certificate and six Extra Value Meal vouchers.

The set went on sales at 11 AM today online but just at noon time, McDonald's Singapore posted the below message on their Facebook page: "Dear customers, we thank you for your support. The site is functioning but due to extremely high traffic, the site is taking longer than usual to load. Please be patient and keep trying. Thank you!"

If the past queues are a sign that expect long queues for the toys once they are released here on April 28th.

Red Bull Air Race 2014 Putrajaya Malaysia

Which is the fastest motor sport in the world? You would think it is Formula 1 but there is much faster and powerful one : Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Every season,  world's best race pilots meet in a pure motor-sport competition. It is low level flying and requires speed, precision and skill. With their light weight advanced airplanes, pilots navigate a low-level aerial track made up of air-filled pylons.

Now here are the good news and very good news. The Red Bull Air Race is back in 2014. This year, 12 high skilled pilots including with defending World Champion Paul Bonhomme will race for the top prize. And here is the very good news: One of the legs of Red Bull Air Race 2014 World Championship will be in Malaysia on 17-18 May 2014.

Malaysia will be the 3rd race in the championship, which has given a 3 years break before resuming in 2014. The season started in Abu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates on 28th February and the second race was in beautiful seaside city of Rovinj in Croatia.

Built in the early 1990s, Putrajaya is located 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur. The city is the world's first 'plan driven' city based on two concepts – the garden and the intelligent city. A mixture of rainforest and Government ministries, Putrajaya is a haven for sustainable human development from within this growing nation.

Reigning champion Paul Bonhomme of Britain, who won the last two world championships in 2009 and 2010, will be looking for an unprecedented third straight title in 2014. But he will be up against 2008 champion Hannes Arch of Austria and American Kirby Chambliss, who won the world title in 2004 and 2006. The other pilots in the field include Nigel Lamb (GBR), Matt Hall (AUS), Peter Besenyei (HUN), Nicolas Ivanoff (FRA), Michael Goulian (USA), Matthias Dolderer (GER), Yoshi Muroya (JPN), Pete McLeod (CAN) and Martin Sonka (CZE).

Singapore Airlines is The Title Sponsor of 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix

Singapore Airlines has announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Formula One Group to be the Title Sponsor of the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX. According to the press release by Singapore Airlines, 2014's Singapore F1 event will be named the 2014 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX and will take place from 19 to 21 September at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

“We are thrilled to be taking up the title sponsorship of one of the most exciting races on the F1 calendar, and we are especially pleased to be doing so in the lead-up to Singapore’s 50th birthday next year,” said Singapore Airlines CEO, Mr Goh Choon Phong.

“Singapore Airlines has always supported the development of both sports and tourism. Through our involvement with the world’s first F1 night race we will be able to enhance both for the benefit of Singaporeans and visitors alike.”

The Singapore Grand Prix is a motor race on the calendar of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The event takes place in Singapore on the Marina Bay Street Circuit and was the inaugural F1 night race and the first street circuit in Asia. Spaniard Fernando Alonso won the first edition of the grand prix, driving for the Renault F1 team. The Singapore Grand Prix will remain on the F1 calendar through at least 2017, after race organizers signed a contract extension with Formula One Management on the eve of the 2012 event.

Singapore Airlines has yesterday released a video in Singapore Airlines YouTube Channel showing a Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 and a Formula 1 race car together in apron. In the video named "The Big Reveal", the Formula 1 car was carrying the colors and logo of Singapore Airlines while the large Airbus A380 was carrying 2014 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX on its body.

You can see the Singapore Airlines Formula 1 announcement video piece, The Big Reveal, below.

Formula One Group CEO Mr Bernie Ecclestone added: “We are very happy to have Singapore Airlines join the Formula One family by becoming the Title Sponsor of the extremely popular FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, which was the first Formula 1® night race, and demonstrates Singapore’s forward thinking, an attribute Singapore Airlines has always achieved.”

Said Mr Ong Beng Seng of Singapore GP Pte Ltd: “We are delighted to welcome Singapore Airlines as Title Sponsor for the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX. Given the iconic brand’s phenomenal global reach, this synergistic partnership will provide the widest exposure and fantastic opportunities in the promotion of both Singapore and Formula 1® around the world.”

Kuala Lumpur - Singapore High Speed Rail is a planned project to link Singapore and Kuala Lumpur which is planned to be completed in 2020. The project is announced in September 2010 by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib. Singapore and Malaysia have officially agreed to build a high-speed rail link between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore by 2020 at a meeting between Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak in Singapore on February 19, 2013.[1]

According to investvine.com [1], high speed trains between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur will run over 250 km/hour speed with an average speed of 350 to 450 km/hour.

The high speed rail link will most likely have two train services : an express service which provides non-stop high-speed rail travel between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore terminus and a transit service which stops in cities.[4] Potential intercity stops between KL and Singapore would be (from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur) Singapore, Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Muar, Ayer Keroh (Melaka), Seremban, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur (KL).

The high speed rail stations in Singapore will probably be in either west or city center. In the west, Tuas West, Jurong East and Joo Koon are possible locations with a tunnel through the SAFTI Live Firing Area is required [2][3]. Another option is city center, Tanjong Pagar West or Marina Bay [3]. But according to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, city center locations will be more challenging to do because of the cost and land required (actually old KTM station in Tanjong Pagar and the KTM track land is an excellent option for the high-speed rail link isn't it?).

According to a feasibility study, Kuala Lumpur - Singapore High Speed Rail project costs would be between $ 2.5 billion to $ 3.7 billion, but rumours speak of a total cost of above $ 9 billion.[1] The express high-speed rail between KL and Singapore will be about 400 km and the travel time will be 90 minutes. Transit services (stopping in cities between KL and Singapore) is expected to cover the distance in 120 minutes.

Kuala Lumpur - Singapore High Speed Rail Info
Reducing travel time between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur to just 90 minutes will be a game changer. Flights between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur takes only 45 minutes but adding the time spent in airports and travel to/from airports, it typical takes 4 hours. Typical bus travel between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore takes 6 hours.

High speed trains are proved to increase productivity by allowing people to spend less time on travel and more time on doing business and leisure. It also allows business people to work during the significant part of the journey.

Universal Studios Singapore ride Battlestar Galactica closed

I went to Universal Studios Singapore once and spent a significant time in Battlestar Galactica, the best attraction in this Singapore Sentosa Island theme park. I even thought to buy a year pass to come back to RWS Universal Studios but I am now glad I have not done it. According to media, Battlestar Galactica is closed for good. This star attraction was closed for almost half a year (since last summer).

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has never published a statement to announce the news or gave any reason regarding the closure. When the RWS was opened, Battlestar Galactica was closed for almost 9 months after some technical problems. The troubled ride was world’s tallest dueling roller coaster offering two experiences on Human and Cylon nested tracksç The Cylon one was quite fan with near miss fly-overs over buildings and terrain.

According to Singapore based MyPaper, Resorts World Sentosa will probably revamp Battlestar Galactica with another movie-themed one and this new ride, with a fresh name and new interiors, will be ready by end 2014.

Battlestar Galactica ride was probably the most popular ride in USS. Although it is better to close the ride instead of someone getting hurt, it USS will not be same without it: in a bad way.
