Wicked musical is in Singapore


After highly successful musical The Lion King, which has been performed 230 and watched by 300,000 visitors, another blockbuster musical is in Singapore from December 2011. Broadway's biggest blockbuster, Wicked - The Untold Story of The Witches of Oz, is in Singapore Marina Bay Sands grand theater. The musical is based on the  the novel 1995 novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire. The musical is told from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz: Elphaba, the misunderstood girl with emerald-green skin, and Galinda, later Glinda, the beautiful, ambitious and popular blonde.[1]:

"WICKED tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One, born with emerald green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good."

WICKED won of 35 major awards including a Grammy®, three Tony Awards® and six Helpmann Awards® including Best Musical since it has opened in Broadway in October 2003. WICKED will open in Singapore at the Grande Theater, Marina Bay Sands from December 2011.

The ticket prices for Wicked musical ranges from 55 SGD (E Reserve, last rows) to 250 SGD (Emerald Reserve). The seating plan and prices can be seen from Wicked musical seating plan.  The performance is scheduled Tuesday to Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Wicked singapore cast is the same cast who have clocked 3 years of successful performances around Australia.  The Perth engagement has finish on September 11, 2011 and this production is the one moving to Singapore's Grand Theater in Marina Bay Sands. Currently Wicked Singapore musical  is planned to run from December 7, 2011 to January 29, 2012 beginning an open-ended Asian tour. Jemma Rix will play Elphaba, while Australian understudy Suzie Mathers takes over as Glinda. They will be joined by David Harris (Fiyero), Bert Newton (The Wizard), James D. Smith (Boq) and Elisa Colla (Nessarose), who all reprise their roles. Joining them is Glen Hogstrom, who replaces Rodney Dobson in the role of Doctor Dillamond and Anne Wood, who replaces Maggie Kirkpatrick in the role of Madame Morrible.[1]
