Property Market 2014 Outlook by Property Guru

PropertyGuru, an online property portal in Singapore, has announce the launch of the PropertyGuru Property Market Outlook 2014 eBook. First in Singapore, the eBook is available for free and can be viewed exclusively at PropertyGuru.com.sg/propertyoutlook2014.

Mentioned Steve Melhuish, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PropertyGuru: “The PropertyGuru Market Outlook 2014 eBook is our definitive digital guide to empower property seekers to make better informed property decisions.”

“It is a culmination of our unique leadership position in property listings and information services, an expansive real estate agent network and enriched stakeholder partnerships with developers and consumers to provide insightful perspectives that draw on past trends to predict demand and price behaviour for 2014,” he said.

Leveraging on government data and industry expert opinions, the eBook aims to provide a complete and comprehensive market view for the reader. Topical themes include changing property sentiment and the effect of cooling measures on transaction volumes in 2013.

Moving forward into 2014, the eBook incorporates the Company’s forecast on what to expect in the property market. In a nutshell, PropertyGuru expects 2014 to be quieter as compared to 2013 - with the HDB resale and condo markets experiencing further declines in transaction volumes in the first half of 2014 before reaching a plateau. In correlation to this trend, prices are expected to slide by 8-11 percent (HDB resale) and 6-8 percent (private property).

Other compelling insights from the eBook by consumer segment include:

First-Time Home Buyers:. The new supply of 24,000 HDB units in 2014 will provide first time buyers with more choices, better bargaining position – and relief on price rises. This will be a welcome relief after the highly competitive environment of 2012 and 2013. Housing availability will be further improved with projected decline in BTO applications and Singaporean population numbers.

Upgraders: New restrictions on the capacity to borrow under the new cooling measures will reduce the ability of upgraders to gain the funds to move to condos. Most will be expected to adopt a wait-and-see approach as the market continues to soften.

Investors: High-net worth individuals will remain cautious investors owing to the TDSR and ABSD restrictions and restrictions on what properties can be rented and purchased. The cooling measures will definitely affect the investment market in 2014. This will in turn be reflected in lower prices – reducing the attraction of the investment segment in 2014.

Cruising from Burma to Borneo Aboard a Classic Sailing Yacht

Sailing company Burma Boating has launched its new summer itinerary, "The Spice Route Adventure." Guests can book parts of this epic journey aboard Burma Boating’s flagship yacht “Meta IV” and follow a route travelled by merchants and adventurers over the centuries.

The voyage will take the yacht from Burma to Thailand’s western islands, continuing through Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, all the way to Sabah in Borneo - and back.

This is a journey of discovery through the heart of Southeast Asia, combining culture with nature and luxury with adventure. Guests can expect to see ancient port towns, World Heritage Sites, national parks, gorgeous waters and some of Asia’s most beautiful islands. They will listen to the sounds of the world's oldest rainforest on Borneo, sail up jungle rivers, watch orangutans and sample exotic delicacies on local markets - there will be endless opportunities for outings and excursions.

The cruising schedule offers 8 different segments between May and September - each of them 12 days long. Many of the islands along the way have been rated to be among the world's most beautiful.

Burma Boating is offering two kinds of packages: Guests can book a cabin and join a cruise. Families or groups might also consider chartering the whole yacht for themselves to plan a completely tailor-made private trip. Meta IV has space for up to 8 guests in 4 cabins, all fully air-conditioned and with en-suite bathrooms.

Meta IV was designed by the naval architect Thomas E. Colvin, who gave the yacht her beautiful shape and robust hull. She is made entirely of Thai teak, one of the best woods for building classic boats. She was constructed in 1998 as a private two-master for a Swiss businessman who made his fortune in hotels. After two years of intensive restoration work and refitting, Meta IV started her new life as a luxury charter vessel in the fall of 2012. She is crewed by an Austrian captain, a Thai chef and two sailors.

From May to September, cruise operator Burma Boating offers 12-day sailing vacations along the old spice trade route between Burma and Borneo.

Burma Boating offers sailing experiences aboard classic yachts. The company made headlines when spearheading luxury sailing cruises in Burma’s Mergui Archipelago last year.

From late October until end of April, Meta IV will be back in Burma's (Myanmar's) Mergui Archipelago. Rates for the 12-day Spice Route Adventure are EUR 3,900 (USD 5,290) per person.

Rude student shout at polite teacher and demands apology

The video below, taken in Singapore (but probably shedding light on some students in everywhere around today's world) needs no words. The teacher asks the student to return to his seat. He complied initially but then returns back to his classmate’s desk. The teacher shouts at him to return to his seat.

This is where he starts talking back defiantly at the teacher and demanded an apology from his teacher. And suprisingly, the teacher apologizes several time. Does this stop the kid. Of course not.

Watch the video below. Actually, if you are planning to be a teacher, do not watch it at all.

The full transcript of the event is here. According to Yahoo sg, the Spectra Secondary School student has apologised after a video of him scolding his teacher. According to All Singapore Stuff (where the video firat appeared) the teacher in the video is Mr Foo Cheek-Choon, mathematics teacher at Spectra Secondary School and is a former Director in MNC. He has been in the job only for a month.

Resorts World Sentosa Trickeye Museum to open in 2014

Come mid-2014, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will be home to the region’s first Trickeye Museum. This new interactive museum will be sited at the integrated resort’s Waterfront. Occupying an area of 800 square metres, the museum will feature six theme zones, with 80 three-dimensional paintings and optical illusion masterpieces.

“Trickeye” is derived from the French compound word - Trompe-l’oeil – meaning ‘trick of the eye’. Guests visiting this museum can expect paintings that stimulate creativity and imagination techniques through their vision. Not only will they see with their eyes, the museum requires the active participation of guests to become subjects within the masterpieces.

In conceptualizing the museum at RWS, Trickeye took into account some of the most remarkable aspects of the Singapore – a truly cosmopolitan city with a thriving ecosystem of nature and wildlife – and transferring them into artworks. The six zones will cover the themes of Love, Circus, Masterpiece, Safari, Fairytale and Adventure. The works displayed will also blend together cultures of East and West in interesting ways, reflecting the melting pot culture of Singapore.

Ms. Sujin Seong, Director of Trickeye Museum said, “Since we initiated this popular concept in Seoul back in 2010, we have always aimed to expand the footprint of Trickeye beyond the shores of Korea. As a key tourism hub, Singapore was the obvious choice, and Resorts World Sentosa is a prime spot to set up our first overseas venture. We believe that Trickeye Museum will complement the resort’s existing offerings and provide more compelling reasons for tourists from around the world to come visit.”

Mr. Goh Chye Boon, Executive Vice President of Resort Operations, Resorts World Sentosa, said, “We are proud to have Trickeye Museum join the exciting line-up of attractions at Singapore’s first integrated resort. As a key player in the tourism industry, Resorts World Sentosa will continuously refresh our offerings to attract new and repeat visitors, and to stay on top of the game in this dynamic industry.”

Trickeye Museum will be one of the anchor tenants at the Resort’s Waterfront, and Mr. Goh added that, “We will continue to roll out a series of exciting offerings to inject vibrancy to the area. Guests can look forward to enjoying even more unique moments and experiences when they visit our Resort, where there is something for everyone in the family.”

Resorts World Sentosa will have SEA's first Trickeye Museum.
Looking ahead for 2014, the Resort will continue to push into secondary cities in its key markets and roll out campaigns throughout the year to attract repeat visitations from locals and nearby markets including Malaysia and Indonesia.

Trickeye museum first opened in Seoul in December 2010 and has welcomed more than a million visitors to date. It has since opened two other museums in popular tourist locations of Busan and Jeju, and established itself as a leading art gallery in Korea.

Forent talent Anton Casey and the stench of public transport on him

Karma is a bitch and Singapore based foreign ulta-talent Anton Casey learned it the hard way. Days after he has made a video telling "Don't be angry at me, be angry with your mum and dad for raising you a wuss", he had to do something which he probably would say only wusses do: He has publicly asked forgiveness from the millions he obviously looks down from his ivory Sentosa Cove tower.

"Daddy, where is your car and who are all these poor people?" Daddy, very talented and thanks God rich British expat Mr. Anton Casey, has departed from her baby (not an ordinary machine poor people would buy but of course a Porche) for a while and was unfortunate to use public transport in those dark days. He later shared his unfortunate experience among "poor people" in his Facebook:

"Ahhhhhhhh. Reunited with my baby. Normal service can resume, once I have washed the stench of public transport off me FFS" (FFS means For Fuck's Sake if you do not know).

Update : Anton Casey fire by CrossInvest Asia:
Crossinvest Asia is deeply concerned by the recent comments made by Mr. Anton Casey on social media which have caused great distress amongst Singaporeans. Those comments go against our core corporate and family values that are based on trust, mutual understanding and are respectful of diversity.
Crossinvest Asia is a family business which has been built here in Singapore. The online comments made by Mr. Casey do not represent the culture that we have built over many years.
Accordingly, Crossinvest Asia and Mr Casey have parted ways with immediate effect.
Source : Crossinvest (Asia) Pte. Ltd. Facebook page post
Anton Casey left Singapore for Perth with his wife, former Miss Singapore Universe pageant winner Bernice Wong and their 5-years old son early Friday morning with a Singapore Airlines flight.

According to Daily Mail, Singapore is home to about 50,000 British expats and any are hired by multinational banks on lucrative packages and are notorious for ‘Hoorah Henry’ antics (a British English slang to describe a British male who exudes loud-mouthed arrogance and an air of superiority):
A senior British banker, who has lived in Singapore for 15 years, said: ‘Casey is a pillock but unfortunately there are plenty of idiots like him with too much money and attitude. ‘The public mood is very ugly. All the major banks have given informal warnings to their expat staff  to cut back on the champagne and partying until this all blows over.’

Mr. Anton Casey a senior wealth manager who lives in Singapore with his Singaporean wife, former Miss Singapore Bernice Wong, and their son has now something else to worry about. His posts did not go unnoticed and went viral in the net. Criticism mounted after the posts went viral on Monday, with some angry netizens digging up Mr Casey's home address, place of work, and his home- and mobile-phone numbers.

"I would like to extend a sincere apology to the people of Singapore," he later said in a statement. He added that in the past 24 hours, the writer's family and, especially, his five-year-old son had "suffered extreme emotional and verbal abuse online".

The Talented Mr. Casey and his ultra talented Facebook post
Anton Casey's son in his baby and in an MRT train next to a poor person. Luckily, the car is working again so they won't need to travel with the poor again.
Other than the Facebook posts a video showing him with his son also angered netizens. "Don't be angry at me. Be angry with your mum and dad for raising you a wuss." says Casey in the video. It was mentioned online to have been made after Casey's comments on public transport, though he has denied this. "It must be made extremely clear that a YouTube video of me, with my son in the background, was not posted in response to any recent events. This video was made weeks prior and has been misused to portray me as unreprentant," he said.

Before he has deleted his Facebook page, some netizens had digged into its content and fished out some other offensive posts like one where he called a Singapore male cabbie a "retard" for wearing arm warmers and mittens and having a towel on his lap. "After 11 years of residency, I am still trying to understand THESE people!" he added (well even if you live 1,100 years in your expat bubble you will not have any clue about anything in the community you live in).

According to Yahoo SG, a male expatriate who got to know Casey and his family over the past several months told Yahoo Singapore that the wealth manager had a very British sense of humour, which can be very scathing, "but it can cross lines and it did cross lines". "I had to defriend him on Facebook because I couldn't stand the rubbish he was writing about all sorts of people," the expat said, adding that Casey's wife and son though were "sweet".

Later, The Real Singapore has published a statement from Crossinvest Asia, the employer of Anton Casey. The statement by Christophe Audergon, Managing Director at Crossinvest Asia, says:

Crossinvest is aware of recent comments made on social media by one of its employees which some Singaporeans have found offensive. Crossinvest does not condone the offending comments. We believe they were made in poor taste. Crossinvest has clear policies regarding the codes of conduct expected of its employees. That code of conduct extends to social media. We are currently investigating the comments made by our employee and will take appropriate action once we are in possession of all the facts.
The case even caught attention of Singapore Government. Law and Foreign Affairs Minister of Singapore K Shanmugam on Thursday deplored the online posts of British wealth manager Anton Casey, calling them "deeply offensive, wrong, and unacceptable":

I have been asked what I thought of Mr Anton Casey and his statements. Like many Singaporeans, I am terribly upset and offended by what he has posted. Deeply offensive, wrong, and unacceptable.
Those who have done well in life should always be looking out for others - especially the less well-off or needy. It is basic human decency. Instead Mr Casey showed contempt. Having money and a Porsche, does not automatically mean that one is superior. Character is important.
I am glad the community has come together to condemn what he has said.
He has attempted to apologise to Singaporeans. But some feel that the manner of his apology showed a lack of sincerity. And I think there is some basis for thinking that.
At the same time, I hope that Singaporeans will not attack or flame his family because of his actions. We, Singaporeans, can be bigger than that.

By the way, The Tuckshop bar in Geyland now has a Wanker Special inspired by the case of Anton Casey. $120 Pints for Anton Casey and $12 pints for the rest of us poor Singaporeans :)

The album came a decade after its predecessor, Hellbilly Deluxe, the album that established Zombie as a solo artist after the breakup of multi-platinum group White Zombie. That triple-platinum album also yielded a string of successful radio singles, namely “Dragula” “Superbeast” and “Living Dead Girl,” which dominated the airwaves.

In addition to working on his films, ROB ZOMBIE also dominated the touring world together with his band of maniacs – John 5/guitar, Piggy D/bass and drummer Ginger Fish, blowing away audiences on the road with Megadeth, then with Marilyn Manson for the “Twins of Evil Tour.” When it comes to any artistic feat or endeavor, leave it to Rob Zombie to accomplish what appears on paper to be nearly impossible.

The members of KORN built an immortal bond back in 1993 the first time that Jonathan Davis, James "Munky" Shaffer, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, and Brian "Head" Welch decided to make music as a unit. They shed blood, sweat, and tears in the studio and on stage, fashioning an undeniable, unsettling, and unique sound that would permanently alter the course of rock music. After six seminal releases, two Grammy Award wins, countless sold out shows, and eventually selling 35 million albums worldwide, Head left the group in 2004 to face down the demons of addiction on his own. KORN soldiered on, permanently adding drummer Ray Luzier to the fold in 2007 and releasing four more epic full-length releases, most recently 2011's groundbreaking dubstep-metal hybrid The Path of Totality. In 2012, a triumphant and tear-filled reunion happened on stage as the group headlined the Carolina Rebellion festival with Head reprising his legendary part on "Blind." The initial bond came back into focus, but it was time to change the game again. It was time for their eleventh studio album The Paradigm Shift. Recorded with producer Don Gilmore [Linkin Park], it melds the group's ever-present spirit of innovation with their signature metallic catharsis, paving the way for the future yet again.

ALTER BRIDGE was formed in 2004 when three ex-members of Creed joined forces with former Mayfield Four front man & Slash collaborator Myles Kennedy.

The band's gold-certified debut album "One Day Remains" spawned three singles as well as the track "Metalingus " which was adopted by WWE superstar Edge as his theme song. A second album "Blackbird " was released in 2007 to critical acclaim, resulting in 2 hit singles "Rise Today" and "Watch Over You", the latter of which debuting at #10 on the VH1 top 20 music video countdown.

Following up to their success, their third studio release "AB III " was released in 2009 to many positive reviews and spawned "Isolation " their most successful single to date. in 2010, AB III reached #1 rock album on iTunes in the United States.

Armed with their most recent album "Fortress " released in August 2013, ALTER BRIDGE embarked on a headline UK tour in October, and will be be playing in Australia's Soundwave Festival 2014. Alter Bridge will also release a box set titled Alter Bridge X to commemorate the band's 10th anniversary.

After his departure from Metallica in 2001, former bassist JASON NEWSTED has embarked on a number of projects & collaborations. "Echobrain" was the first of such projects, which also resulted in Jason Newsted's departure from Metallica after over 14 years with the band due to tensions between the band members - namely James Hetfield was quoted as saying "When someone does a side project, it takes away the strength of Metallica ".

Soon after recording and funding 3 albums with Echobrain, JASON NEWSTED then joined Canadian thrash metal band Voivod for a period of time as their studio bassist in 2002. Jason Newsted joined Ozzy Osbourne's band in Ozzfest 2003, replacing Robert Trujillo (who replaced him in Metallica).

JASON NEWSTED was present and played alongside with Metallica in the band's induction ceremony to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2009, as he had co-written three songs with them. It was his first performance with the band in over a decade, and both Robert Trujillo and himself played onstage at the same time.

In December 2012, JASON NEWSTED formed the band NEWSTED as his new project, and their debut album "Heavy Metal Music" was released in August 2013 to generally positive reviews.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has released three consecutive RIAA gold certified albums for sales exceeding 500,000 copies. The success of The Way of The Fist (2007), War Is The Answer (2009) and American Capitalist (2011), which debuted at number 3 on the Billboard charts in October, 2011, exhibit the band as one of the few in the rock genre to consistently see significant sales both digitally and physically. The band’s ten consecutive Top 10 radio hits - including 2012′s #1 hit “Coming Down – have spawned cumulative single sales of over 4.2 million. Going back to “The Bleeding” in the spring of 2008, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has consistently been one of the most heavily played bands at rock radio.

Formed in 2006, BLACK VEIL BRIDES originally came together in Cincinnati, Ohio. Primarily the brainchild of vocalist Andy Six, the band combines cathartic metalcore/screamo with a dark, gothic image to set it apart from its contemporaries. In their first couple of years together, BLACK VEIL BRIDES went through a number of lineup changes while they gained attention from labels with two EPs, releasing Sex & Hollywood in 2007 and Never Give In in 2008. The band eventually relocated to Los Angeles, settling on a lineup and beginning work on its full-length debut.

Bringing together guitarist Jinxx (formerly of the Dreaming), guitarist Jake Pitts, bassist Ashley Purdy, and drummer Sandra Alvarenga, the band began to refine its image and sound, touring with groups like Eyes Set to Kill and From First to Last. In 2010 they released their debut, We Stitch These Wounds, on Standby Records. Later that year, Alvarenga left the band and was replaced by drummer Christian "CC" Coma, who made his debut with the band on 2011's Set the World on Fire, which was released on Lava Records. For their third release, Black Veil Brides channeled their gothic image to create the conceptual punk rock opera Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones, which was released in early 2013.

Don’t miss one of the most hard hitting rock lineups ever in Singapore with ROB ZOMBIE, KORN, ALTER BRIDGE, NEWSTED, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH & BLACK VEIL BRIDES!

Sexy Singapore Airlines Stewardess posts photos online of herself in underwear

A Singapore Airlines (SIA) stewardess has posted photos online (Instagram) in which she could be seen in underwear. The photos were brought to light by StomPer Tan asking "Is this the criteria to join Singapore Airlines as a flight stewardess? To tag yourself as #asiangirlsrocks?"

The photograph shows a young Asian woman in a hotel room (Moevenpick Hotel Deira in Dubai according to the Instagram title) with black underwear.  The woman takes photo of her own reflection from hotel's mirror. In another photo the same woman can be seen in Singapore Girl Sarong Kebaya in a hotel room. The underwear photo is tagged as #asiangirlsrocks.

What the StomPer does not realize is that these photos are private photos and related to this young lady's personal life. It has nothing to do with her work or the image she carries as a SIA stewardess. What the StomPer does is wrong, bringing forward some private photos and relating them to girl's job.

Several comments in the post were related to this. "It doesn have anything to do with SIA! Work and personal life is a seperate thing!" wrote someone in a comment. "What she doing now is not related to her job, stomper pls mind your own business" wrote another. One joked "Nice curves on this girl. No complains here. ...Stomper go get a life!."

Xiaomi in Singapore

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi (小米科技 meaning Little rice in Chinese) has been a great hit in mainland China with its beautiful smartphones having very good specs but very budget prices. For example latest Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone is sold for only 2000 yuan (420 SGD) which is less than half what a typical high-end smartphone without contract would cost in Singapore.

2013 has been a great year for Xiaomi. The budget smartphone maker has sold 18.7 million phones in 2013 and is expected to overtake Apple's share in the market. In August 2013, they have announced that they were hiring Hugo Barra from Google where he served as vice president of product management for the Android platform. (A little tabloid news: This came after the revelation that Google co-founder Sergey Brin was in a relationship with Barra's ex-girlfriend).

And Mr. Barra gave the good news in his Google+ account: Xiaomi is planning to expand into Singapore so we would be able to buy Xiaomi phones here. Before a photo (see below) bearing the words "Hello Singapore" was posted onto their Hong Kong and Taiwan Facebook pages of Xiaomi.

"It's finally official — Xiaomi is coming to Singapore!  Details coming soon..." wrote Hugo Barra in his Google+ account.

Xiaomi Singapore Facebook page have been created in May 2013, three months before Hugo Barra came, so Xiaomi may be eyeing Singapore expansion for some time.[3] No Singaoire Xiaomi launch date details are given yet.

Xiaomi in Singapore
Xiaomi says "Hello Singapore" in a recent post to Facebook.
Singapore expansion, according to Tech In Asia [1], will test the company’s chops in a market in which consumers have higher incomes on average. It also will be branching out from exclusively Chinese-speaking markets into a multi-lingual market. According to Oo Gin Lee[2], Xiaomi's entry into Singapore market may be a potentially distruptive force for Singapore telcos. This is because Xiaomi is priced significantly lower than comparable high-end smartphones and will provide an alternative to those who would like to buy a nice smartphone without tying themselves up to a 2 years telco contract.

For those hanging on their old 3G data plans to not loose 12 GB plans of the past, Xiaomi will provide a great alternative. Anyway, Xiaomi Mi3 does not support 4G yet.

Xiaomi Mi3, the latest Xiaomi smartphone, sports Quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 (the world's first 1.8Ghz
Quad-core processor), 5-inch full-HD IPS Sharp/LG display (with standard 16:9 Full HD resolution), a 13-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and a 3050mAh lithium-ion battery.

Passanger Matthew G. Johnson shortly after take-off from Heathrow Airport there was a loud air noise from the door five rows in front. According to his Facebook post he questioned the crew who allegedly told him about two hours later than the door had a "mild" leaking seal. Another few hours went by before this led to cabin depressurisation and forced the emergency landing.[1]

Lan Kwai Fong 3

The 3rd installment of sexy Lan Kwai Fong film series, Lan Kwai Fong 3 (喜愛夜蒲3), is in theaters now. Set amid Hong Kong’s most vibrant nightlife hub, Lan Kwai Fong is about partying, boozing and promiscuous lifestyle and thanks to its actresses generous display of their assets has been quite a hype in Asia.

All 3 Lan Kwai Fong movies have relatively unknown cast and low budget. The first movie, Lan Kwai Fong (2011) just costed 750,000 USD to produce but generated twice that in just a month only in Hong Kong screening.

Set in Hong Kong’s nightclub and bar district, Lan Kwai Fong, the film follows three couples as they act out their desires. Jason Chan (陳柏宇), Whitney Hui (許亦妮), Jeana Ho (何佩瑜), Alex Lam (林德信), Ava Yu (雨僑) star and Celia Kwok (郭穎兒). Michael Tse (謝天華), Christine Ng (伍詠薇), Kelvin Kwan (關楚耀), and Ronan Pak (白健恩) make cameo appearances.[1]

You can watch Lan Kwai Fong 3 trailer here. Do not get so exited about the lingerie and French kiss scenes of Whitney Hui in the trailer. Whitney is managed under TVB, who fiercely protects the images of its artists, and there are very limited number of explicit appearences of the starlet in the movie.

Dada Chen, big boob Hong Kong starlet, was supposed to have a lead role in Lan Kwai Fong 3 but she has quitted showbiz before the cameras rolled for the movie (Dada Chan had a lead role in the first movie). The replacement was 2011 Miss Hong Kong second-runner up Whitney Hui, who boasts an impressive 35D bustline (seems like a must to take a lead role in a Hong Kong erotic movie) took on Chen’s role.

With this installment, director of all 3 movies, Wilson Chin (錢國偉) released a new installment each year.
