Singapore-based Crystal Jade Culinary Concepts Holding has signed a lease for 16,000 square feet of indoor space and 4,000 square feet of outdoor space at Four Embarcadero Center. Sheldon Pont and Skip Whitney of Kidder Mathews represented Crystal Jade.
The award-winning Crystal Jade has several upscale restaurant concepts specializing in traditional Cantonese and Teochew cuisine. The group currently has over 120 restaurants across 18 cities in 9 countries, and now, in partnership with restaurateur Gus Murad (longtime owner/operator of the former Medjool restaurant in San Francisco's Mission District), will be opening their first restaurant outside Asia. Leasing broker, Sheldon Pont, stated, "This is reflective of Crystal Jade's growing appetite to expand outside of Asia and a strong reflection of their confidence in the U.S. and San Francisco in particular."
Darlene Chiu Bryant, Executive Director of ChinaSF was instrumental in facilitating the transaction. ChinaSF is an economic initiative of San Francisco. Their mission is to create jobs in San Francisco which is accomplished by recruitment of Chinese companies and providing support in every stage of the decision-making and relocation process. As well as adding to San Francisco's already diverse culinary experience, Crystal Jade is expected to create more than 100 jobs during their first phase of operation.
There has been no announcement on which of the many Crystal Jade concepts will be coming, but the restaurant is scheduled to open early Spring 2014.
