Sex bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee offensive Selamat Berbuka Puasa greeting

Sex bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee have uploaded a Selamat Berbuka Puasa 'greeting' photo depicting them eating bak kut teh (a pork dish) and describing it as 'wangi, enak, menyelerakan' (fragrant, delicious, appetising).

Alvin Tan later told that there is no specific reason for uploading the picture and it was (he guesses) just a joke. But Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission took the picture quite seriously and is investigating it under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek called the greeting "unacceptable".

Netizens slammed the duo for their insensitivity. The post has earned over 500 comments, mostly chiding the couple for their insensitivity and since then they have removed their offensive posting and uploaded a picture of them eating ketupat, rendang and curry puffs instead. "Nah, come enjoy real halal food now," the caption on the updated photo reads.

The couple is since forced to apologize and called the bizarre "greeting" their "stupidest stunt". They have uploades a 1:22 minute video on their youtube channel SexcussionsAlvivi:

"We are recording this video to ask for forgiveness for offending Muslims in this holy month of Ramadan," said Tan in the video. "We sincerely regret offending religious beliefs and sensitivites in multi-cultural Malaysia," he added, speaking in Malay.

According to Asiaone in a twitter post @AlviviSwingers, the couple tweeted "I think this "halal pork for Ramadhan" stunt was the stupidest one we ever pulled. Even I had to admit it. We, were, wrong."

Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee are not your typical couple. After rocking Singapore and Malaysia with a sex scandal, they have been riding on their fame by a YouTube channel named Sexcussions with Alvivi. In the channel, they talk everything and anything about sex, they say. They have some new videos shot on Singapore's Sentosa Island. In one of the videos, Alvivi approaches bikini babes and surf shorts hunks and talks about the most intimate body part when they are most vulnerable, bare, and unsuspecting:

"It was quite a challenge to get people to talk to us and open up (all within 2-3 minutes of their attention span) when all they wanted to do was to laze around on a Sunday afternoon. Yet despite the gargantuan challenge of finding hot people, hoping that the hot people we found submitted to interviews, and hoping that the hot people who submitted to interviews were actually funny and interesting, we managed to get some awesome footage for your viewing pleasure."

Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee are back and this time with a YouTube channel named SexcussionsAlvivi where they will share sex tips online! The youtube channel of our young and restless sex gurus, which has a very hardcore logo, is described as a weekly show where they will talk about anything and everything related to sex.

On their channel, they write: "We feel that sex is extremely important yet under-discussed, especially sexual health, sexual identity, sexual morality, and of course sexual happiness. Thus we hope to inspire Malaysians and Singaporeans to open up more not just on sex but also other issues close to heart."

The couple caused a big storm in late 2012 when they have uploaded their hard core experiences on a blog as photos and videos. The blog was since taken down but they have milked their fame for more than a month by interviews, video Q&As and other stuff.

It seems like everything they have done and released were planned beforehand. The YouTube channel for example is opened on October 11th 2012 before the Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee scandal broke out. Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee saga still goes on even after Sumptuous Erotica is down

Alvin Tan Jye Yee and Vivian Lee have already closed their blog, Sumptuous Erotica,  in which they have shared their sexually explicit photos with public. But the photos and videos, one of them showing the couple acting out a rape scene, are already out in the internet. And although it is closed, the issue is not : Their blog caused a lot of outrage in Singapore and to an extend in Malaysia. News of the blog and the couple have appeared in almost every major publication in Singapore and Malaysia. If they were planning to draw a lot of attention and become famous, they have got more than what they wished for. "Alvin Tan", "Vivian Lee", "Alvin and Vivian" type of searches dominated Singapore's cyberspace and they have been extensively covered in the media.

Although Alvin and Vivan have closed the blog, mostly due to pressure from their parents, Vivian Lee has no regrets making her sexual life public.[1] She said she sees nothing wrong in posting the nude pictures and videos of their sexual relationship on the Internet. She adds that the blog posts were intended to show the world that how much they loved each other."

And although some netizens call the incident as moral decay, many of their peers agree with her. Most young ones do not consider the couple's posting of erotic pictures and sex videos of themselves on a blog to be immoral:

Production manager Joshua James Peterson, 26, said while he was shocked when he read the news, he did not think the couple had crossed the line. "They can do anything they want as long as they do not force their ideas upon others," he said. Student Kan Wai Min, 18, said although he felt the two should keep their sexual activities private, he did not think it was immoral for them to display them publicly.[2]

On the other hand, the couple seems to enjoy their extended fame. Malaysian couple released a new video on YouTube (Latest Update from Alvin and Vivian - 17 October 2012) in which they cheerfully discuss about the saga they have created in Singapore and Malaysia. In the video below, they answer some of the questions and fan mails(!). They confirm in the video that they did not want to shut down the Sumptuous Erotica blog but they have still done so due to family pressure.

Alvin and Vivian have no regrets. They say they will continue the blog (they claim the shut down is temporary) and what they love to do. But they will probably not continue to make it so soon.

The couple's fame now reached outside the borders of Singapore and Malaysia. Many  news agencies around the world, such as Agence France-Presse (AFP), reported about them. In an article named Student sex blog causes stir in Singapore, Malaysia[3], AFP wrote Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee remained unrepentant quoting Tan for saying "If there is one thing that I really like about myself, it is my body".

Alvin Tan Jye Yee, a National University of Singapore (NUS) law scholarship holder, came to his 15 minutes of fame after he had posted sexy photos and videos of himself and his girlfriend Vivian Lee on his blog named Sumptuous Erotica. His name topped the top searches list in Singapore and they have been covered in most of the publications in Singapore and Malaysia.

The photos and videos starring Alvin and Vivian (this is how the videos start), now circulating in the internet, are very explicit (far in the extreme range) and created outrage here. Some newspapers wrote that the photos and videos may have brought more than attention over him now.[1] According to a Singaporean lawyer if he enters Singapore, Alvin Tan Jye Yee could be prosecuted for breaching the Films Act of Singapore for his obscene videos. This is the case even if he is not Singaporean (he is Malaysian studying in NUS) and the videos may not have been shot here. Worse, he has added that he may have also broken school rules of NUS.

But according to a comment in Facebook on the article, he may have leaved Singapore long ago and setup his own business. He is listed as CEO and Co-Founder, Fezzl Pte. Ltd in quora.com and linked-in. He also writes his education as LL.B. (Hons.) at National University of Singapore so he may have even been graduated. The New Paper confirms that he has left NUS 2011. According to The New Paper, the couple (living in Kuala Lumpur and Johor) started a public blog to share what they do in private with the world. (Yahoo SG reported that he Tan has taken a leave of absence from school to pursue a daily deals business.)[3]

The New Paper also gave more details about the couple. The couple, Alvin and Vivian, have met through Facebook and got together in April this year. The couple has first posted their nude photos on Facebook but after they are taken down they have decided to start their own blog to share the pictures. They have first posted photos on Tumblr on September 20th.[2]

Update:
Vivian Lee defended erotic posts and said she has no regrets making her sexual life public:

"I see nothing wrong in posting the nude pictures and videos of our sexual relationship on the Internet. It was intended for the world to see how much we love each other. I cannot understand why people have to make so much fuss about this. It is our private affair," she said.[5]

He has also claimed that he has been counselled by The Office of Student Affairs at NUS because of "sexual words" that he has posted on Facebook. Someone basically took his screengrab and complaint about him to The Office.

After all the attention and uproar, Alvin Tan Jye Yee has taken down his blog. But photos of Alvin And Vivian are already circulating in the internet. Still, he has been served a notice to appear before a board from National University of Singapore (NUS).[4] He reportedly said: "What can (NUS) do? Terminate my scholarship or expel me? I can't say I will be fine with it, but if it happens, I can accept it.''

There were other cases of online photo scandals in Singapore recently. In one case, Chen Guilin a.k.a Gary Ng posted lots of sex video clips of himself with many woman. Dubbed as Singapore's Edison Chen, he was jailed 4 years and 2 months and was fined $20,000 in 2011. Back in 2004, a self proclaimed Sarong Party Girl Chloe Cheng or Isabella X caused some uproar in Singapore after she has posted some naked/nude photos of hers in her blog.
