It was like a small city airport with everything is in separate buildings among which you travel by buses. Not any more. After many years of delays, Doha's new Hamad International Airport is open and you will have everything in a single, modern airport.

Hamad International Airport (HIA) has 1 terminal (Terminal 1) with 3 Concourses. National carrier Qatar Airways, and all other carriers have moved into the airport on May 27, 2014.

Qatar Airways Flights to Philadelphia and Edinburg starts in April and May 2014

Qatar Airways will start daily non-stop flights to Philadelphia USA by 2 April 2014. Flight time from Doha to Philadelphia will be around 14 hours and 3 minutes. Philadelphia will be airlines 5th destination in USA. Currently Qatar Airways, offers daily non-stop service from New York (JFK), Chicago (ORD), Houston (IAH) and Washington, D.C.

Doha - Philadelphia flights will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft. Qatar Airways' CEO Akbar al-Baker had previously indicated that Qatar Airways' next U.S. city would be one of three cities: Atlanta, Boston or Detroit. But Philadelphia apparently rose above those destinations thanks to Qatar Airways' recently signed deal to become part of the oneworld frequent-flier alliance.

Through a codeshare agreement with US Airways, Qatar Airways passangers will have connections to PHL through from the following cities: Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Chicago (ORD), Boston (BOS), Miami (MIA), Tampa (TPA), Fort Lauderdale, Fla.(FLL), Palm Beach, Fla. (PBI), Fort Myers, Fla. (RSW), Las Vegas (LAS), Phoenix (PHX), Charlotte (CLT) and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. (RDU).

Qatar Airways' 5 times a week flights to Edinburgh will start on 28 May 2014.

Flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) USA by Qatar Airways

Starting from 1 July 2014, Qatar Airways will start direct flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) USA from its base Doha which will be the second destination of Qatar Airways in Texas and 7th destination in USA. The Dallas/Fort Worth - Doha route will be operated with the airline’s flagship Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, which features a two-class design with 42 Business Class lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.

Qatar Airways is currently flying to four destinations in the United States – New York, Washington DC, Chicago, and Houston. In 2014, the airline will add three new routes : Philadelphia (2 April), Miami (10 June) and Dallas/Fort Worth (1 July).

“We are pleased to continue enhancing our presence in the United States and are committed to providing passengers with an exceptional travel experience with Qatar Airways, as they travel on their long-haul and short-haul journeys" said the airline in a statement released in its website. “It is an exciting start to 2014 that we have announced three new American routes, and we look forward to welcoming our new and loyal passengers on board." Qatar Airways’ Business Class product was ranked the “World’s Best Business Class” at the Skytrax World Airline Awards this year in Paris.

Economy Class features 217 seats in a 3-3-3 across configuration – the airline is the leader in Economy Class spacing on the Boeing 777, featuring one less seat per row in Economy Class than its competitors.

Key destinations for passengers travelling from the United States across the airline’s hub in Doha include routes in India, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Popular business and leisure destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Delhi, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Nairobi, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo, and Maldives are operated daily non-stop with multiple frequencies, making Qatar Airways an airline of choice among passengers.
In line with Qatar Airways’ growth strategy, many routes are served with multiple frequencies, ensuring maximum connectivity and convenience by providing some of the shortest travel times in the industry.

Qatar Airways Year End Promotion for flights from Singapore

Year end usually means flight promotions for airlines. Qatar Airways is also offering year end promotion for flights from Singapore to many destinations in Europe and USA. Return fares below include all taxes, fees and surcharges, which are subject to change due to currency fluctuations.

For the flights to Europe and USA, you need to transfer to another plane in Qatar Airways' hub in Doha.

I am frequently using Qatar Airways to fly to Istanbul and as far as I can see, many of my friends and colleauges fly with it to Europe. There is a huge price difference in Qatar Airways and other airlines although the airline's service is very good. This is because although the airline is 5-Star, you still need to transfer in Doha but this small inconvenience saves a lot compared to direct flight to your destination.

I have recently flew to Istanbul from Singapore on Qatar Airways for only 950 Singapore Dollars (return flight) thanks to its Big World Promotion. The airline is super but the Doha Airport, which is very small to carry the load of Qatar Airways, has some inconveniences such as bus transfer from plane to the terminal (which can put you in a stressful run if your plane lands late to catch your next flight) and there are several terminals and you need to leave in the correct one (again a problem if you have limited time the next flight). A new international airport is under construction in Doha so this inconveniences will be history soon.

Flights to Edinburgh by Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways is starting flights to Edinburgh from Doha 28 May 2014 onwards which will be operated five times per week using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in a two-cabin configuration, offering passengers 22 Business Class and 232 Economy Class seats.

Recognised as a World Heritage Site, Edinburgh boasts a long and colourful history which can be seen in the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile and the iconic architecture such as Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh is often referred to as the “Gateway to Scotland” and  is situated in the Lothian, or lowlands region, through which the rest of the country can be easily accessed. A vibrant city, visitors can experience world-class music, theatre, art and sport all year round while discovering hidden gems of Scottish hospitality in many of the city’s neighborhoods.

Edinburgh Airport will be Qatar Airways' third destination in the United Kingdom preceded by London in 1997 and Manchester in 2003. The airline currently operates flights to the UK’s London Heathrow with five flights per day while flying 10 times per week to Manchester Airport.
