UFC Fight Night Singapore


Marina Bay Sands Singapore will be host to South East Asia's first UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) tomorrow on 4 January 2014 Saturday. Belgium's Tarec 'Sponge' Saffiedine and South Korea's Lim 'The Ace' Hyun-Gyu will fight in a 5-round welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night Singapore. Saffiedine is on a four-win streak while Korean star Lim has won his last seven fights and eight of his 11 wins had come via knockouts or submission in the first round.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the largest mixed martial arts promotion company in the world, which hosts most of the top-ranked fighters in the sport and produces events worldwide. Based in the United States, the UFC has eight weight divisions and enforces the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, from a variety of other combat sports. It is a combination of all the different types of martial arts including karate, kung-fu, muay thai, wrestling, jiu-jitsu and so on.

The 10-bout event will feature world-class fighters from Asia-Pacific, Europe, US, South America with the first fight starting at 7.30 pm (Singapore Time). And Saffiedine - Lim firght is not the only East - West clash of the night. Japanese star fighter Katsunori Kikuno is aiming to extend a 5-win streak against American lightweight Quinn Mulhern. And Singapore's favorite Royston Wee will take on Philippines Dave Galera in the first-ever all Southeast Asian UFC bout.


Tickets for UFC Fight Night Singapore are available from Marina Bay Sands Web site as well as SISTIC outlets. D Reserve ticket prices are 88 SGD and C Reserve prices are 188 SGD. VIP, A Reserve and B Reserve ticket prices are 688 SGD, 488 SGD and 288 SGD respectively. This UFC night is at
the Sands Expo and Convention Centre which a small vanue compared to usual venues for this sport. So whereever you sit, you will be closer to action.

As popular as the fighters are the octagon girls. Former Miss Japan Universe finalist, Azusa Nishigaki will be one of them tomorrow.

Octagon ring girl and former Miss Japan Universe finalist, Azusa Nishigaki made a surprise appearance at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Open Workout session on Wednesday.

Tokyo born Azusa Nishigaki who is in her late 20s, was a guest octagon girl at UFC 144 in Japan in February 2013 where she has replaced Chandella Powell. Her appearance in UFC Singapore is her 3rd time.

“I’ve always wanted to work for UFC and it’s an honour. I get so excited watching the fights, especially when some of the fighters are my friends,” said Nishigaki, who is good friends with Japanese MMA fighter Takanori Gomi.[1]

And who is Azusa Nishigaki dating? According to the media, she is single now. Work keeps her too busy to date – and said she wishes there would be someone who would care that way for her.[1]
