LG Singapore is finally making Google's fourth Nexus-branded Android smartphone, LG Nexus 4, officially available in Singapore. The device was launched almost half a year ago. While the cheaper Google Nexus 4 Phone is still unavailable, the 16GB variant of the LG Nexus 4 is available in Singapore for $668. The bad news is that this is US$162 more expensive of US$349 of the same device in the US.
LG Nexus 4 is available in many retail shops now. Go to LG Where to Buy web page for a list of these retail shops.
According to Asia CNET, LG will not provide support for the units bought from US even if the phone is under warranty. Still since there were not a lot of reported problems with the device, getting an unlocked overseas model of Google Nexus 4 can still financially make sense.
LG Nexus 4 is equipped with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8 or 16 GB of internal storage, front facing 1.3 megapixel camera and an 8 megapixel rear camera and a micro-SIM card tray. The phone was launched with the new Android 4.2 operating system, titled "Jelly Bean" (as was Android 4.1).
Last November when the new phone was launched, Hardwarezone.com.sg reviewed the LG Nexus 4 and concluded that the smartphone is lightning fast. "It also boasts good build quality and a great design but they did not like its below average battery life, subpar imaging performance, lack of memory card slot and no 4G LTE support."
If you are looking for a 4G LTE-enabled LG handset, you can consider the S$798 LG Optimus G which comes with similar or better specs.
