Luxury island hotel getaways near Singapore


Singapore is a tropical island but is definitely not a beach, sea sports and nature type of tropical island destination. It is densely populated and has almost no beaches. But luckily there are some very nice island getaways from Singapore within a few hours away. We are not talking about Phuket, Koh Samui, Bali, etc. These are nearer.

Many of these relatively unknown islands offer one or more luxurious hotel accomodation which blend lavish forests and lovely beaches in a fantastic holiday. Sibu Island Resort offers a quite a pleasant stay with activities like snorkeling, just lying on the beach and swimming. It is not the top notch like the other hotels in this article but offers the nearest island escape from Singapore.

The Datai Langkawi Luxury Island Resort Win a Top Honour for Malaysia


The World Luxury Hotel Awards (WLHA) 2012 was held in Kuala Lumpur on October 2012 and saw The Datai Langkawi,  a luxury destination resort located on the north‐western tip of the lush tropical island of Langkawi, walk away with the coveted award for Global Luxury Island Resort. Voting for the award was based on facilities and service excellence and was cast by thousands of travelers from around the world and hotel guests. This was the only win for Malaysia in the global category.
