Hotel Mermaid Bangkok Review
A few months ago, a friend of mine visited Singapore and Thailand and requested some hotel advices in Bangkok and Phuket. In my last visit I have stayed in Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Hotel (near Nana BTS Skytrain Station) and I was quite happy with it. So I have recommended this hotel. She has later decided to book another hotel named Hotel Mermaid Bangkok.
Hotel Mermaid Bangkok is a relatively new hotel in Bangkok. With its 69 guestrooms, pool, 24-hour front desk, helpful staff and renowed Captain's Pub and Restaurant, the hotel is conveniently located on Sukhumvit Soi 29 (50 meters off Sukhumvit Road), 10 minutes walk from BTS Asok Skytrain Station. Hotel Mermaid Bangkok is also quite near Terminal 21 shopping mall.

It was a sudden decision to go to Bangkok, Thailand. I have made all of my reservations and arrangements through the Internet. I searched many Bangkok hotel options online and I have decided to stay at Hotel Mermaid Bangkok. I stayed at Hotel Mermaid Bangkok for two days. Without any previous information, I would say that it was definitely a good selection. Hotel Mermaid Bangkok, located in Sukhumvit, Bangkok, is a popular choice for travelers. It offers 69 guestrooms designed to meet the needs of customers. Moreover, it was a nice boutique hotel with a great staff and convenient location. Staff welcomes you very warmly.
Actually, Hotel Mermaid Bangkok has been inaugurated by His Royal Highness Prince Henrik, The Prince Consort of Denmark. The Hotel Mermaid Bangkok is also home to well renowned Captain’s Pub & Restaurant. The hotel has modern air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi internet service is good. The hotel also has a pool, a 24-hour front desk and an on-site tour desk.
Five best things about Hotel Mermaid Bangkok
First, the hotel is only 3. Km from the city center. Hotel Mermaid Bangkok is centrally located hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 29. The hotel is around 50 meter slightly off the Sukhumvit Road which is an exclusive district popular among expatriates and upper class locals. Sukhumvit is home to fancy apartments, villas, restaurants, bars and clubs. Sukhumvit Road is not only one of the longest boulevards in Thailand, but one of the longest boulevards in the world. You may go to Sukhumvit Road by walking from the Hotel Mermaid Bangkok.
Second, The transportation to and from the hotel was very convenient. The hotel’s strategic location provides that guests can quickly and easily reach many local points of interest. For example, Hotel Mermaid Bangkok is around 10 minutes walk from the BTS Asok Station (0.6 Km). It is centrally located and very near to BTS and MRT lines. Using MRT lines, it was very easy to visit major touristic attractions including the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Furthermore, Suvarnabhumi Airport international airport is a 1-hour distant from the hotel.
Third, the hotel room together with its bathroom is very clean. Furthermore, all of the rooms are designed with artwork and colored walls. Thus, it offers an elegantly relaxing ambiance.
Fourth, the hotel is very near to Terminal 21 Shopping Mall. This mall presents some of the best shopping with hundreds of funky boutiques under one roof. Please be prepared and do not be surprised you may see your hometown city at Terminal 21 Mall since floors themed around some of the coolest cities in the world. Each floor has a different focus.
And fifth, as I mentioned previously, the staff service was excellent. I requested a late check out and many thanks to staff it was granted. They were very helpful and nice.
Final note to mention, the price is very reasonable. Actually it is great hotel choice for those travelling.

Tune Hotel Asoke on Sukhumvit Soi 14 in Bangkok
When they ask me where to stay in Bangkok I always reply them Sukhumvit Road. There are many advantages of staying on Sukhumvit Road:
1 - Traffic in Bangkok is just awful and it is best to be on public transportation like BTS Skytrain when going around. A hotel within walking distance from a BTS Skytrain station will save you a lot of time and money and Sukhumvit Road has a BTS line.
2 - You can reach the hotel from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport using Airport Rail Link and either BTS Skytrain or MRT line (subway).
3 - There are great dinning, night life and shopping avenues on Sukhumvit Road itself.
4 - There are great hotels on sukhumvit Road catering to all tastes and budgets.
5 - If you are into it, 2 of 3 Bangkok Red Light Districts are on Sukhumvit Road near BTS Stations (Soi cowboy near Asok and Nana Plaza near Nana Station).
Hotels near BTS Asoke Station has a bonus because they are also near MRT Sukhumvit Station so you have both options.
Tune Hotel Asoke on Sukhumvit Soi 14 in Bangkok is just 100 metres from the BTS Asoke Station as well as the MRT Sukhuvmit underground station and is a perfect location from which to base yourself. Hotel's location on Sukhumvit Road provides access to great shopping malls and excellent restaurants all within easy walking distance from the hotel. Plus, there are not many hotels where you can enjoy quality food, delivered as room service, from the local English Pub - in this case the small, but popular Black Swan, which is located right next to the steps of the Asoke BTS station.

Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit 15 Hotel Review
When someone asks me where to stay in Bangkok I always reply the same: Sukhumvit Road. It is the best place to access public transportation on rail in Bangkok and in Bangkok public transportation is not needed to save money but to save your holiday or business trip from the horrible Bangkok traffic.
But where to stay in Sukhumvit Road then? Recently I have stayed in The Four Points by Sheraton and I have realized that staying near Asok BTS Skytrain Station is the best because the hotels near Asok are also near Sukhumvit MRT Station so you can basically walk to two main public transportation systems.
So if you ask me where to stay in Bangkok, I will answer near Asok BTS Skytrain Station on Sukhumvit Road. A specific hotel? Let's review Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit 15 Hotel.
Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit 15 Hotel is a new hotel. I think it is around for 3 years. This 4-Star hotel is near Asok BTS Skytrain and Sukhumvit MRT (Metro) Stations and you can walk to these 2. It is also near a very nice Bangkok Shopping Mall named Terminal 21.
When you arrive the lobby the modern, new and youthful environment catches you. The service in the hotel is very good as people are always watching you to answer your next question or help you when you raise your eyebrow. I ordered something to the room and the guys called me later back to check whether it came or not!
Rooms in Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit are also quite unique. You pass through a short hallway with closets on the wall but the bathroom opens to the room facing the bed with a wooden door. This not only makes room feel bigger when the door is open, you can also enjoy the bath tube and watch TV! The amenities in the room are new and good as expected. I could connect the TV to my computer through HDMI and watch movie (although there is also a DVD Player). Working corner with a work table and a couch is also quite nice. The shower is small but not that much. I am overweight and I still could use it without so much discomfort.
Enough advertisement. One of the big negatives about the hotel, and this will be the only one, is that they do not have WI-FI in the rooms! They have an ethernet cable but you need to pay for it (I do not know how much I even did not check). The free and accessible WI-FI is in lobby and common areas. Sad and very bad for a hotel which is also open for business travelers.

Hotel Mermaid Bangkok Review
When I visit Bangkok, I stay at Sukhumvit Road. This area is easily accessible from Bangkok Airport (see Bangkok Holiday - From Singapore to Bangkok) without a taxi and also thanks to SkyTrain it is easy to access anywhere in Bangkok from here. Moreover there are many restaurants, bars, shopping malls, etc. on the road for your pleasure and convenience.
Last time I was in Bangkok I have stayed in Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Hotel near Nana SkyTrain Station and was quite happy with the hotel and the location which offers a nice night life options (no I am not talking about Nana Entertainment Plaza and boogy nights but Soi 11 itself, bars and restaurants :)). I have also performed a 1 day Bangkok Tour starting and ending in ALoft Bangkok which you can read here: Bangkok Holiday - 1 Day Itinerary.
2 weeks ago, a friend of mine came to Singapore from Istanbul and flew from Singapore to Bangkok. She wanted some hotel recommendation and I have sent her the booking link for Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Hotel and told her check out other Sukhumvit Hotels also if the price is high. She ended up booking this Hotel Mermaid Bangkok on 6 Soi Sukhumvit 29. Here are her reviews on the hotel (I have not stayed there).
Hotel Mermaid Bangkok is accessible by Asok or Phrom Pong BTS Skytrain Stations. Asok looked near to me so I have left there and took a short tuk-tuk ride to the hotel. If you have a backpack you can also walk but the area is very crowded in the night and it is hard to walk.
This is my first time in Bangkok so I cannot compare it to the other hotels in Bangkok. But overall, I really enjoyed staying in Hotel Mermaid Bangkok. The price was very right (booked through Hotel Mermaid Bangkok Agoda page and stayed there for 2 nights for a total of 70 USD) and the hotel was quite comfortable. My advise is book online for cheaper rates :)
My friend living in Singapore told me that a 4-Star hotel in Bangkok or Thailand is equivalent of a 3-Star hotel back in home so do not judge it by its stars. In fact Hotel Mermaid was quite nice and comfortable. The room was high quality, large and new. I think hotel is also quite new. And the WI-FI in the room was very satisfactory. I booked a studio room and it was small but enough.
In this price range, the breakfast was also quite OK, nothing to complain. I really give top marks to staff who were very helpful. Location is actually not that near to BTS Skytrain but still walk-able. But this relatively long walk also makes the price reasonable I guess. Accessing BTS Skytrain easily (for me it was OK) makes you almost entirely bypass terrible Bangkok traffic. Sukhumvit MRT Station was also accessible which makes public transport easier.
The hotel is walking distance away from two nice shopping malls: Emporium and Terminal 21. Terminal 21 is a very nice place to dine.
Overall the staff is nice, the location is great, the room was good and the hotel's pool and restaurant were decent. I recommend Hotel Mermaid Bangkok to those who would like to visit Bangkok.
Last time I was in Bangkok I have stayed in Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Hotel near Nana SkyTrain Station and was quite happy with the hotel and the location which offers a nice night life options (no I am not talking about Nana Entertainment Plaza and boogy nights but Soi 11 itself, bars and restaurants :)). 2 weeks ago, a friend of mine came to Singapore from Istanbul and flew from Singapore to Bangkok. She wanted some hotel recommendation and I have sent her the booking link for Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Hotel and told her check out other Sukhumvit Hotels also if the price is high. She ended up booking this Hotel Mermaid Bangkok on 6 Soi Sukhumvit 29. Here are her reviews on the hotel (I have not stayed there).
Hotel Mermaid Bangkok is accessible by Asok or Phrom Pong BTS Skytrain Stations. Asok looked near to me so I have left there and took a short tuk-tuk ride to the hotel. If you have a backpack you can also walk but the area is very crowded in the night and it is hard to walk.
This is my first time in Bangkok so I cannot compare it to the other hotels in Bangkok. But overall, I really enjoyed staying in Hotel Mermaid Bangkok. The price was very right (booked through Hotel Mermaid Bangkok Agoda page and stayed there for 2 nights for a total of 70 USD) and the hotel was quite comfortable. My advise is book online for cheaper rates :)
My friend living in Singapore told me that a 4-Star hotel in Bangkok or Thailand is equivalent of a 3-Star hotel back in home so do not judge it by its stars. In fact Hotel Mermaid was quite nice and comfortable. The room was high quality, large and new. I think hotel is also quite new. And the WI-FI in the room was very satisfactory. I booked a studio room and it was small but enough.

Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Hotel Review

I have travelled to Bangkok this weekend and this time I have stayed in Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Hotel. I always prefer Sukhumvit hotels because BTS Sukhumvit Line virtually makes everywhere accessible without a taxi ride. Since the new Airport Rail Link from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok city center is opened, you even do not need to take a taxi and start your trip with awful Bangkok traffic.
Airport Rail Link goes from airport to BTS Skytrain. All the trip from airport to the door of the Aloft Bangkok hotel took around 45 - 50 minutes. But if you have one or two heavy luggage to carry, I should warn: Skytrain Stations do not have escalators in the down directions.
I took City Line train on Airport Rail Link from Bangkok Airport to BTS Phaya Thai Station. There is also an Express one which comes every half an hour so. Express train is not significantly faster but City Link stops in every station while Express directly goes to Phaya Thai (BTS Skytrain).
After BTS Phaya Station I took train to BTS Nana Station. Taking Exit 3 and going into Sukhumvit Soi 11 plus a 5 minute walk will take you to Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Otel.
Soi 11 is a nice place with plenty of restaurants and nightlife dotted with some famous clubs and bars. There are many hotels on this road so is quite popular but relatively expensive to dine.
I have stayed on 32nd floor. Hotel rooms are very clean, comfortable, convenient and very luxurious compared to the price range. There is a clean toilet, shower (there was no bath tube in mine) and the bed was great. There is an LCD TV and they provide HDMI connection so if you have an HDMI enabled laptop or device you can use LCD to watch movies or shows. The hotel is quite popular for both leisure and business travelers.
The hotel room was priced at 90 USD per night (you can check some latest price deals and last minute discounts on this hotel here). Before I used to stay at Four Wings Hotel which is quite good. It was 60 USD per night but Aloft Bangkok Four Wings Hotel is better located, nicer and newer.
Aloft Hotel breakfast is OK and they offer a bar and a restaurant with decent prices comparable to surrounding restaurants. Laundry kind of extras are quite expensive so check prices before you use any extra. A friend of mine stayed here and he told me that the full laundry he gets (have some work jackets and trousers inside) took around 150 Singapore Dollars each time!
The pool is quite OK and it has a nice gym next to pool. The pool area on the 10th floor is also a very nice place to hang out.

Peninsula Bangkok Hotel is one of the best hotels in Bangkok and South East Asia, the best city to travel according to Travel + Leisure magazines World's Best Awards.
