Singapore Night Festival 2013, the 6th year of spectacular aerial performances, music, dance and installation artworks at the heart of Bras Basah nights, is back. For the next two weekends (Fri 23 & Sat 24 and
Fri 30 & Sat 31 Aug 2013) , from 7pm to 2am, the night festival now stretches all the way to CHIJMES and Raffles City on one side, and Plaza Singapura on the other.
Last night (August 21st) there was the media preview of the Singapore Night Festival outside the Singapore National Museum. The main events and special events with late night openings will take place at cultural venues such as the National Museum of Singapore, the Peranakan Museum, Singapore Art Museum and The Substation and more! There will be outdoor showcase of spectacular interactive light installations, and vibrant showcase of heritage, arts and culture in Singapore.
In conjunction with Singapore Night Festival, National Heritage Board will be presenting Night Lights, an outdoor showcase of spectacular light installations. Night Lights 2013, which promises to be a visual feast for all to enjoy, will feature light installations at Singapore Art Museum, National Museum of Singapore, The Cathay, School of The Arts and Raffles City.
This is the sixth year of the Night Festival. The festival has grown over the years, with growing support from
Singaporeans of all walks of life. In its first year in 2008, the festival attracted 40,000 people. In 2012 the festival saw 476,000 people over 4 nights of festivities!
In 2013, the organizers have renamed the festival to the Singapore Night Festival. The Singapore Night Festival is the largest and most ambitious annual event organised by the team at the National Museum of
Singapore. At the same time, it has grown beyond the ambition of the museum to become a landmark event for the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct.
