Travel+Leisure magazines World Best Awards are out in 2013 and in this article we have explored the best in Asia. Which are the best cities, resorts, hotels, etc. in Asia? T+L collects votes from its readers to rate.

Bangkok, capital of Thailand and tourism hub of South East Asia, has been the best city 4 years in a row both in Asia and the world. Japan's Kyoto became the second best in Asia, followed by Chiang Mai, Thailand (3), Siem Reap, Cambodia (4), and Hong Kong (5). For cities following characteristics are used in rating: Sights, culture/arts, restaurants/food, people, shopping, value (and optional: for romance).

Hong Kong fell to the 5th position all the way from 2nd in 2012. Tokyo was 6th best and Singapore was 7th best in Asia as they were in 2012. Shanghai, Seoul and Hanoi completed the top 10 best cities list.

In Asia, the best 2 islands in 2013 are from Philippines. Palawan Island stretching from Mindoro to Borneo in the southwest and small island of Boracay with its stunning white sand beaches. Bali Island of Indonesia is voted as 3rd and 4th and 5th islands are from Thailand: Beautiful Koh Samui and Phuket Islands. For islands characteristics voted are natural attractions/beaches, activities/sights, restaurants/food, people, value (optional: for romance).

And let's take a look at the hotels. Which hotels are voted as best hotels in Asia? Asia hotels are voted in 2 categories: city hotels and resorts. In city hotels category, The Peninsula Hong Kong is voted as the best hotel in Asia followed by Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. Below are the Top 30 for the best city hotels in Asia in 2013:

The Peninsula, Hong Kong is awarded the best city hotel in Asia crown in 2013 by T+L.

In resort category first two did not change compared to 2012 but there is a new 3rd. The Oberoi Udaivilas of Udaipur (India) is voted as the best resort in Asia in 2013 with 95.73 rating. It is closely followed by Discovery Shores of Boracay (Phillippines) (95.57 rating) and Umaid Bhawan Palace of Jodhpur (India) (95.33 rating).  Umaid Bhawan Palace has pushed The Oberoi Rajvilas ( Jaipur, India) to 4th place and  La Résidence Phou Vao (Luang Prabang, Laos) has jumped to the 5th position from 11th in 2012.
