AirAsia X increases flights to Gold Coast from Kuala Lumpur

Malaysian long haul budget airline AirAsia X will increase its flights from Kuala Lumpur To Gold Coast from 5 flights a week to 7 flights a week starting from 24 November 2013. Gold Coast was the airline’s first Australian port and AirAsia X, the long-haul, low fare airline affiliate of the AirAsia Group, had invested heavily in the city from the start. In fact, Air Asia X's first service flew from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia, to Gold Coast Airport in Australia in 2007. Other than Gold Coast, Air Asia X flies to Melbourne and Sydney in Australia.

“We hold a special place in our hearts for this vibrant city which has strongly supported us since our launch in 2007,” Mr Osman-Rani said. “Passenger movements between the Gold Coast and Kuala Lumpur have been consistently strong with an increase on average passenger load year-on-year for the past three years. This has given us confidence to increase capacity to seven flights a week. AirAsia X is very much committed to the Gold Coast and we have been active in the community by supporting events such as the Gold Coast Airport Marathon. The State Government has established an A$8 million Attracting Aviation Investment Fund to help secure new aviation business into Queensland.

The passengers on AirAsia X Flight D7 237 from Perth for Kuala Lumpur on on Sunday, 12 May, 2013 at 06:50 (WST) will witness a historic event and have the privilege to be served by a billionaire! At last Virgin Group owner Sir Richard Branson decided the date to shave his legs, slip into a red skirt and take to the skies as a female flight attendant with AirAsia X.

Yes, seriously. If somehow you do not know the story: Back in 2010, Richard Branson and Air Asia's owner Tony Fernandes had Formula One racing teams; Virgin and Lotus. They wager on who would finish ahead of each other in their debut season of the 2010 Formula One Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. The loser would serve as a female flight attendant on board the winner's airline. Well, Tony Fernandes' then Team Lotus finished two spots above Sir Richard’s Marussia Virgin Racing team in the final rankings.

Tony Fernandes of course will not miss the chance to be served by his rival and will be on the flight. Booking for the flight is available until 12 May, 2013 (but probably will be sold out in a very short time) for travel on 12 May, 2013. Fares will cost A$399 one way and Air Asia X will donate A$100 from each seat to the Starlight Children’s Foundation in Australia. The inaugural flight of AirAsia X from Kuala Lumpur, Flight D7 330, which left LCCT in Sepang with a full load of 377 passengers, landed at 12.25am on Feb 20th 2013. The airline operates six direct flights weekly between the two major cities and will increase this to daily flights from as soon as 1 May 2013. Shanghai is AirAsia Group’s fourteenth destination in China after Hangzhou, Beijing, Chengdu, Guilin, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Nanning, Kunming, Wuhan, Chongqing and Xian including Hong Kong and Macau.

Shanghai is AirAsia Group's 14th destination in China, after Hangzhou, Beijing, Chengdu, Guilin, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Nanning, Kunming, Wuhan, Chongqing and Xian, as well as Hong Kong and Macau.

AirAsia X Adds Child Free Quiet Zone to Flights

Passengers of AirAsia X flying long-haul across China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia, Nepal can now book a seat from so-called "Quite Zones" in the planes, rows of seats which cannot be booked for passengers below 12 years of age. These rows are the first seven economy class rows (row 7-14), immediately after the Premium cabin, and according to AirAsia X the zone features a new ambiance with soft lighting, offering a more relaxing cabin atmosphere, which will ensure a more pleasant journey for our guests.

Basically, kids under age 12 are now banned from the first 7 rows of Air Asia X planes. “The airline is not banning kids from travelling, but instead, is enhancing the array of product offerings on board to suit its guests individual needs and preference"  AirAsia X’s Chief Executive Officer, Azran Osman-Rani, said. "We also offer 3 infant bassinets in the other two larger economy cabin sections to cater for families with young children. Hence, offering a fair choice for our guests,” he has added. "We are pleased to carry out another new product option for our guests, an added value to our long-haul, and low fare services on our A330-300 fleet. This product enhancement allows our guests to have a more pleasant and peaceful journey with minimal noise and less disturbance. A heavenly package for those who wants peace of mind.”

If you are interested in flying in the “Quiet Zone” cabin, you can simply choose the pick-a-seat option during the booking process within the ”Quiet Zone” cabin area. Air Asia X does not charge anything extra for these seats except for the standard pick-a-seat fee.

Time will show how effective these seats will be. A kid on row 15 still has potential to ruin the heavenly package with 100 meter range screams.

From Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah by AirAsia X

Malaysia based long-haul, budget airline AirAsia X has announced a new route to Jeddah Saudi Arabia from its Kuala Lumpur hub which will commence operations on 16 February 2013. 3 flights weekly route to King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah from Kuala Lumpur will increase its flight frequency to 4 flights weekly from 1 May 2013 onwards.

With Jeddah being the gateway to Holy cities of Madinah and Makkah, we are delighted that our services will provide more affordable travel for our Muslim guests in Malaysia and throughout the region to perform the Holy pilgrimage of Hajj and Umrah,” said Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X.

To celebrate the new route, AirAsia X is offering promotional fares from as low as MYR399 (SAR499) in Economy, and from as low as MYR1599 (SAR1999) for a Premium Flatbed from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah one way. AirAsia X Fly-thru destinations on offer concurrent with the promotional campaign include destinations from Jeddah to Australia (Melbourne) from SAR1,238, Indonesia (Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya, Bali) from SAR712 and Singapore from SAR620. The Fly-thru service allows passengers to purchase two flight sectors and seamlessly transit via Kuala Lumpur for their next destination.
