Indian gang rape victims name revealed: Jyoti Singh Pandey

The name of the 23-year old Indian woman, who was raped and murdered by 6 beasts in Delhi, is revealed by her father. Her name is Jyoti Singh Pandey. Previously her identity was not revealed and after she has died because of the horrible attack, many wanted her named to be revealed. Her father, Badri Singh Pandey, revealed his daughter's identity to the Sunday edition of The Daily Mirror. "I want the world to know my daughter's name is Jyoti Singh Pandey" said Badri Singh Pandey. “We want the world to know her real name. My daughter didn’t do anything wrong, she died while protecting herself. I am proud of her. Revealing her name will give courage to other women who have survived these attacks. They will find strength from my daughter.” Badri Singh Pandey did not want the newspaper to release a photo of Jyoti Singh Pandey. Her photo will be seen in another day.

Jyoti Singh Pandey was a female physiotherapy intern. On December 16th 2012, she and her male friend were lured into a private bus. "The bus occupants had everything planned" later recalled the male victim named Awindra Pandrey. "Apart from the driver and helper, others behaved like they were passengers." Then they have teased and attacked the couple. After hitting the man with an iron rod, they have raped the girl and later brutalized here further before dumping both on the roadside.

The grieving father gave a heart breaking account of how he learned about his daughter's situation and the final days spent with family by her side in the hospital before her death. Her mother Asha was too devastated to talk to the reporters.

India Today had inadvertently got the Delhi gang rape victim's name right. They nicknamed her "Jyoti" on December 31st: "We are naming the 23-year-old gang rape victim 'Jyoti' because she was the flame that was snuffed out - became silent after Wednesday and never opened her eyes or talked to her family, not even in gestures the news Article wrote. Jyothi Singh Pandey really could not have had a more meaningful name. She really did light a flame.
