ANA to launch Vanilla Air

All Nippon Airways's (ANA) new Tokyo-based low-cost carrier Vanilla Air (バニラ・エア) will start  operations on 20 December 2013. The Japanaese budget airline will offer services to Okinawa, Sapporo, Tokyo in Japan, Seoul in South Korea and Taipei in Taiwan.

Vanilla Air came to life after AirAsia decided to exist AirAsia Japan. This made the budget airline fully owned by ANA and the airline was re-branded to Vanilla Air since 1 November 2013. ANA is planning to use Vanilla with its Osaka-based Low Cost Carrier Peach, to drive its regional growth in East Asia.

Vanilla Air will operate a fleet of all-economy 180-seat Airbus A320s. An initial fleet of two aircraft will be expanded to 10 by 2015.
