Singapore-based low-cost long-haul airline Scoot unveiled new schedules for its two new routes in China, Qingdao and Shenyang. The budget carrier, which already operates medium and long haul no-frills flights between Singapore and Sydney, Gold Coast, Bangkok, Tianjin, Taipei and Tokyo, promotional fares for guests outbound to these two destinations go on sale on December 19th, for travel commencing 11 January 2013.
Qingdao, also known in the West by its postal map spelling Tsingtao, is a major city in eastern Shandong province, Eastern China, with a population of over 8.715 million. Shenyang, or Mukden, is the capital and largest city of Liaoning Province, as well as the largest city in Northeast China.
The new schedule of Scoot requires the thrice-weekly service to operate a route of Singapore– Qingdao–Shenyang–Qingdao–Singapore routing, instead of the originally-planned circular routing of Singapore–Shenyang–Qingdao–Singapore. The ticket prices between Singapore - Qingdao will be from SGD 98 and Singapore - Shenyang will be from SGD 128.
"The confirmation of our Shenyang and Qingdao schedule is an early Christmas present for us, and to share the cheer we’re offering fantastic promotional fares. What better time for a change of climate! Singaporeans can enjoy the crisp coolness of Qingdao or Shenyang, or take the opportunity to experience the world famous Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, just a stone’s throw from Shenyang." said Scoot's CEO Campbell Wilson. "We’re sorry for any inconvenience the change in routing may cause those already booked, but seek guests’ understanding that this is due to the request of the authorities. However, with this confirmed routing, Scoot is the only airline to operate nonstop between Singapore and Qingdao and the only airline to operate a same-plane, wide-body service to Shenyang. These cities are great additions to Scoot’s fast-growing network, and to Singapore’s aviation hub."
